Oakland's Green Economic Development: How it is Being Affected by the BP Deal With the University of California and the "Progressive" Dellums Administration's Partnership with the Oakland Chamber of Congress. Sunday, September 16th 5:00 - 6:30 pm
Please join our speakers Nazreen Kadir - former biotechnology administrator, peace activist, and former member of the Dellums' Green technology taskforce - and Wilson Riles - community activist, former Oakland City Council member and Mayoral Candidate - for a discussion about Oakland's green economic development. Nazreen and Wilson will briefly touch on the historical power-mapping of economic development decision making in Oakland, then dive into the current pressures intensifying around green technology and the juggernaut of the BP deal with the University of California and what this means for Oakland. They will also share their first-hand experiences as participants in Mayor Dellums' Citizen Advisory Task Forces and the evolution of the Oakland Partnership between the City of Oakland and the Oakland Chamber of Commerce, and what can be expected from the Partnership between the "progressive" Dellums administration and the pro-business Oakland Chamber of Commerce.
